Overview
One of the most beautiful of all the fresh water tropical fishes, Betta Splendens or Siameese Fighting Fish are actually one of the easiest fish to care for. The only rule other than good water quality that has to be followed is that males MUST be kept seperate from each other. In many asian countries the fighting of these fish is a traditional wagering event. Here in the United States it is against the law to take part in such activities. We at Mystic Tigers feel that the fighting of any animal for sport and wagering is just plain wrong and do not condone such activities in any way.
The Betta first found its way to our shores in the early nineteen hundreds and has been an aquarium favorite ever since it made its american debut. Since it first arrived on our shores many dedicated breeders here and around the world have worked to improve the color varity as well as to develop new fin types. It is an easy to breed fish and watching the fry grow to adult size is both entertaining and educational. To see a creature grow from what can only be called "eyeballs with tails" into one of the most beautiful of all freshwater fish is nothing short of amazing.
Here at Mystic Tigers we draw on many years of experiance in working with these fish. Much of the equipment we use was designed by our staff and is intended to make our bettas lives as healthy and comfortable as possible while making our part of their care as easy as possible. We are now offering several of our custom made designs to the public in the Aquarium Items section.
We are proud to offer the following varities of Betta Splendens to the public.
